About

I have been teaching art classes in the after school program (K-8), including a diverse set of art lessons (landscape painting, figure drawing, sculpture) with a wide array of materials that includes watercolor, clay, charcoal, acrylics, tempera, pastels, crayons and color pencils.

Art Workshops in your school. Drawing and painting.

This workshop starts by learning the basics of representing form realistically. Step-by-step drawing instruction and teacher demonstrations with geometric shapes, enables students to create basic line drawings. Working from still lifes, landscapes, and students’ favorite images, they will learn the fundamental skills of both drawing and painting.

Students learn classical principles of drawing, while gradually training both eyes and hands, and get use to the elements and principles of art, like proportion, color, unity, texture, value and space (perspective). Advance students will continue enhancing their creative skills by doing more elaborated fine works. Although the main focus of this class is creating a final painting done in watercolor or acrylic painting, students will also learn to draw using different techniques, like graphite, color pencils, charcoal and pastels.

Students will gain confidence as they master the art techniques taught in this class.

“If ever there were a pied piper of kid's art, Jesus would be it. Students sit in rapt attention while he speaks and demonstrates, and then become incredibly focused and go on to create amazing projects.

He engages his students from the moment they step in the room until they leave with their masterpieces in hand.”

Students will explore various age-appropriate techniques and materials used to create two- and three-dimensional works. Mediums such as acrylic, color pencils, water-colors and clay, will be used. Art historical references will complement studio work. Emphasis will be placed on finding and developing a personal style.
